This free Ovulation Calendar can be used as a guide to help you track when you ovulate.

Ovulation is the process in the menstrual cycle by which a mature ovarian follicle ruptures and discharges an ovum, which is commonly known as an egg.

To ovulate is to produce and discharge an egg that participates in the reproduction process.

Ovulation usually occurs mid-cycle, about day 14 of a woman's menstrual cycle. The few days near ovulation constitute the fertile phase.

Ovulation Calendar - the Ovulation Cycle

The following Ovulation Calendar can be used as a guide to help you track your ovulation cycle, when you ovulate and are therefore in your most fertile stage. The days with the yellow shading indicates the possible time of ovulation. Please note that the calendar indicates just an average of days that ovulation could take place--every woman's cycle is different.

The Ovulation Calendar - Why and When does Ovulation occur?
The most common questions are why and when does ovulation occur. The process of ovulation is controlled by the brain and via the release of hormones secreted from the pituitary gland. These hormones are called:

The Luteinizing hormone (LH)
The Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)

Ovulation is triggered by a surge in the amount of the FSH hormone and LH hormone which are released from the pituitary gland. During the luteal, or post-ovulatory, phase the egg will travel through the fallopian tubes toward the uterus. If fertilized by a sperm, it may perform implantation there 6-12 days later.

Your Personalised Ovulation Calendar - Your most fertile times
The above ovulation calendar indicates just an average of days that ovulation could take place - every woman's cycle is different. To create a more accurate view of your most fertile times you must establish a pattern for your personal menstrual cycle. This cannot be done instantly as it is necessary to chart your menstrual cycle for at least 8 months to gain an accurate picture. To identify your most fertile times on your personal ovulation calendar you need to use your longest and shortest cycles.
To establish the first day of your fertility window:

Take the number of days of your Shortest cycle e.g. 25

Subtract 18 from this number e.g. 25 - 18 = 7

The first day of your personalised Ovulation calendar starts on the 7th day of your cycle

To establish the last day of your fertility window:

Take the number of days of your Longest cycle e.g. 32

Subtract 11 from this number e.g. 32 - 11 = 21

The last day of your personalised Ovulation calendar ends on the 21st day of your cycle

Your ovulation can be expected during this period. You cannot get pregnant everyday during this time, but these re the most likely times that pregnancy can occur.
